Do I need to know the train schedule?
Groups train reservations are being taken care of. You’ll be updated on your schedule by your ride leader.
Do I need a car?
No. The weekend is designed using NJ Transit and Metro North.
Can I bring a car if I want to?
Yes. Let us know and we’ll get you a parking permit. The Saturday and Monday rides are set up using trains, but there will be alternate routes back to/from New Paltz.

What do I bring (bike)?
What you normally bring on a club ride: spare tubes, mini-tool, front and rear lights – plus two water bottles or a camelback – there are some long sections without places to buy water.
What do I bring (luggage)?
In your luggage, include two changes of of riding gear, plus something casual to wear for the walking tour and group dinner on Saturday night.
Personal effects should include pillow case, sheets and a towel. SUNY will provide pillows and blankets. We’ll have a couple of floor pumps for general use.
Will there be a luggage service to and from New Paltz?
Yes. That’s included in the price of the weekend (or $10 each way “a-la-carte”). See itinerary for drop-off and pickup schedule.
- Please keep your baggage to reasonable size – a backpack or equivalent
- Don’t pack anything valuable — cell phones, jewelry or personal computer, etc.
- Name-tag your baggage.
What are the SUNY accommodations like?
Crispell Hall at SUNY New Paltz was fully renovated in 2014. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and modern.
For $200 you share a room with one other person and shared bath in four-room suite.
For $250 ($300 after May 31) you get your own room and shared bath in a three-room suite.
Lobby Common Area. Continental Breakfast. Hang out spot for rainy day. TV. Kitchen.
Are the rooms at SUNY New Paltz air conditioned?
No, but the nights are cool and each room will be supplied with a large fan.
Where can I store my bike?
Bicycles may taken upstairs in the dormitory’s elevators and stored within each suite. Care should be taken to wipe down each bike of any dirt or grease.
Does SUNY have WiFi ?
No. But there is a computer room in the lobby that guests can use.
Are there other housing options beside SUNY New Paltz?
Sure, you can make your own housing accommodations via AirBnB, also Expedia and Hotels.com. Then you can pay separate for Saturday night dinner ($35), breakfasts ($15 each) and luggage drop ($10 each way).
